It is Gentleman’s charming rough timbre that makes his songs one of a kind. 38 year old Gentleman, cosmopolitan and Germany’s most popular reggae artist, has an enormous output of high class reggae anthems, which fight for a more peaceful and tolerant world. For more than two decades now Gentleman has established contacts with Jamaican musicians. He deepened those relations by numerous joint projects. His recent album “New Day Dawn” is a significant certificate of this. No other German reggae artist has a similar positive international reputation.
Gentleman is a performer of constant movement. He dances across the stage with grand gestures. He is constantly searching for the eye contact with his audience and lives by the glow in the eyes of his fans. “It’s been a while since I had so much fun. It is more intimate again today. People coming to my concerts now are really dedicated to the music. When’re you experiencing a hype, there are always people in the audience that have no real connection with this kind of music.” We really don’t have to worry about that regarding Gentleman’s music, even less with such a powerful band as The Evolution, “this vehemence in the back, that performs with so much soul”, as Gentleman enthuses about them.
